Background:

RS components came to us as a trusted pair of hands to deliver the 3D character animations which portray their latest ‘Find it. Design it. Buy it’ campaign.

Challenge:

RS had an existing idea whereby electronic components would come to life and take part in a line-up, with the statement ‘make us a part of your electronics line-up’. We were tasked with giving the characters character, adding personality in the transfer from sketchbook to screen, and producing the short films.

Solution:

This project really was not the usual suspects! The level of 3D animation we were able to do for this project made sure of a quality product.

We initially brainstormed some ideas for how these component-based characters would behave and move about. Each character needed to have their own personality and way of interacting with each other.

The modelling and animation stage (using Cinema 4D ) brought it’s own challenges – making sure that we were creating something full of character when they only have a body and legs!

We then did post in after-effects and finally produced a fully animated short, with still renders produced for advertising purposes.

Results:
